Blog 59: The Importance of Nutrition on Women’s Health

by | Mar 12, 2018 | Women's Health

Women’s health rests on the premise that God is the Giver of health. We cannot make ourselves healthy. God gives us health. It is not dependent on what we eat. A woman is a good steward of the body God has given her when she eats nutritious foods, takes supplements, and has a healthful lifestyle. As a good steward, a woman places proper importance on nourishing her body with whole foods.

Personal Story

I’ve always loved learning about health. I got married during college. Less than a year later, my mother-in-law ran out of conventional medical options for her breast cancer and learned alternative nutritional therapies which gave her an improved sense of well-being. My interest in nutrition and eating whole foods intensified during that time.

Main Body:

Whole food eating is a healthful practice which can result in a healthier life. There are many nutrients found in food, especially minimally processed, nutrient dense food.

Here are some nutritional tidbits that are important to consider:

  • Meal times are important both for nutrition and for nourishing family relationships.
  • A woman’s body benefits from eating from a balanced plate which has proteins, healthy fats, vegetables, fruit, and starches.
  • Some people with allergies or food sensitivities must avoid certain foods.
  • It is important to carefully chew our food carefully before swallowing to get the most nutritional benefit from it.
  • Eating a large variety of food in its season will give the human body the most nutrient content.
  • Eating foods with different textures, flavors, and colors brings joy to the meal.
  • Food is medicine that provides vitamins and minerals used by the body to “treat” illness or disease.
  • Food provides extra vitamins and minerals for the body’s use when life’s stresses cause extra needs.

Each woman has her own unique needs for a diet. No one diet fits suits all.

Action Step

Take some time to learn about good nutrition. Seek out the diet that fits your own needs.

May God bless your healthful endeavors!
