Herbal instructors use herbal instruction to teach people how to use plants to support their bodies and address ailments based on their root cause and the person’s general wellness. Herbal instruction began long ago, and there is even written herbal instruction dated 5000 years ago. Knowing the benefit of herbal instruction and what it entails can lead to a person seeking for themselves the knowledge and health that comes from knowing what herbal instructors understand.

Personal Story

My personal story with herbal instruction began more than two decades ago. My youngest children had repeated bouts with sore throats and ear infections. I was tired of taking them to the doctor and was “complaining” to a friend about it. She suggested a few things that she did for her children when they were sick and suggested I go to a health food store at a local chiropractor’s office to find some help. I am so glad I followed her advice! I discovered a whole new way of supporting our bodies that didn’t involve doctors or antibiotics. I discovered the benefit of herbal instruction.

The Benefit Herbal Instruction

Sometimes people are unsatisfied with conventional medicine with its “cookie cutter” approach to health. They would rather get to the underlying cause rather than just mask symptoms. Often that means educating oneself and deciding your own course of action. Taking control of one’s own health can be scary. Having a mentor and a natural living community can ease concerns so it doesn’t have to be accomplished without help.

The benefit of herbal instruction is that people can learn to support themselves in times of illness. Herbal instruction can provide education and healthful endeavors to consider while self-diagnosing and self-treating the over 80% of medical symptoms that can be handled without professional medical care. It also helps people recognize when it is important to work with a primary health care professional for many medical concerns.

Topics of Herbal Instruction

  • How to lay a good foundation of health through nutrition, learning how to evaluate family health, and studying to prevent and intervene during acute health crises.
  • How herbal plants provide body support
  • Body systems that may need support.

Woman’s Health Educator or Community Herbalist education builds on the knowledge of the Family Herbalist with the following:

  • Support for conditions that are unique to a woman’s body
  • Pregnancy knowledge and body support
  • Building an herbal practice

Community or Clinical Herbalist education adds to all the above with:

Each level of study builds on the one before and gives plenty of feedback to help a person become confident in providing information to make decisions on and talk with healthcare professionals about.
