Evaluating family health is a healthful endeavor which can lead to big results. When a woman stops to look at the life of her family and ponders how they are doing, she can see what is going well and what isn’t. She can then make plans to work on the areas that need work.
Personal Story
When I looked at my family’s busy life, I found that we were doing well in some areas, but not so well in others. The good parts were our eating nutritious foods and feeding our minds and spirits through home schooling. The not so good part was our social calendar. We needed to get out more! We needed to make time for having fun with our friends. After checking with my husband, we scheduled a potluck game night with another family. It was good for each member of our family to laugh and play games with people who we didn’t see every day. The kids had a blast playing with their friends and the parents got to encourage each other for the busy task of parenting. We knew we needed to make this a regular occurrence.
Take Time to Think
Think about the physical, mental, social, and spiritual life of your family. Financial is another area it is good to check. Asking and answering questions will help us evaluate where we are and set goals for the future.
Physical
What is your family’s nutritional intake like?
What supplements are you using?
Have you all been drinking enough pure water?
Is your family exercising regularly?
What are the current health concerns for each family member?
What goals have you been working on? How is it going? Is there an adjustment that needs to happen?
Mental
Are any of your family under work or school stress?
How are they handling things?
Do they use stress reduction techniques?
Social
Have you and your spouse had a date this month?
Have you had family play time regularly?
Have any of your family members been isolating themselves from the family?
Does each of you regularly make time to get together with friends?
Do you serve others?
Spiritual
Do you regularly spend time in God’s work, both alone and as a family?
Do you pray together?
Are you part of a local body of believers?
Financial
Are you working as a team to discuss your financial health and make goals for your future?
Where are you in terms of the amount of financial freedom you have?
Have you made a list of all your debts and are working to pay them off, smallest to largest?
Are you paying off debt, saving, giving, and spending with a plan?
Plan
What area(s) need some attention? Choose one and create a plan to help you improve.
When you can make a goal or two, it is beneficial to find an accountability partner to help you stay on track. Encourage one another to walk on the path. Healthful endeavors will bring big results over time!
May God bless your healthful endeavors!
