Why would I see an herbalist?

You would see an herbalist if you are interested in learning more about nutritional and herbal medicine. Herbalists are plant experts who specialize in botanical body support. Perhaps you have a diagnosis and you want to find out what your options are for improving your health using alternatives to conventional medicines or maybe you’d like to have help to create a list of questions to ask your healthcare provider. An herbalist can work with your health care professional to create a treatment plan that supports your body.  An herbalist is a great person to have on your health care team.

Additionally, you may be seeking ideas on how you can take steps towards better health for yourself and your family through better nutrition or lifestyle choices.  You may want to have more “natural” life and wellness choices. You would see an herbalist if you would like someone to take time to really listen to you and provide support as you walk along your path towards better health.

I have a new friend who takes echinacea and other herbs. This is new to me, how do I know what is safe for me or my family to take?

An herbalist has been trained to know herbs. She can give you information about botanicals- who should or should not consume an herb, what is in the herb, how it works in the body, how to safely use it, and what a safe dosage is. Herbalists know how herbs interact with each other, other nutritional supplements, and pharmaceuticals.

What will I experience at a consultation?

We will get to know each other and determine if we would like to work together. If so, you will sign an Informed Consent Form, which confirms that you know I am not licensed as a healthcare provider. I will listen to your story and provide some education on the issue of concern. You will decide what your next steps are. Then, I can provide support on your journey as you walk your path to wellness.
